Play a video in fast forward or reverse

Feb 17, 2010 at 4:10 AM

Hi All,

Im looking to provide a "fast forward" or "reverse" function, but Im having trouble with both.

It seems that the SpeedRatio property does nothing on the MediaUriElement and when I use MediaPosition to "seek" ahead, it does not load fast enough to give the right look im after.

In order to play in reverse, the only option I can see so far is to seek, so is there a way to load a video into memory so that it seeks really really quickly?

Thanks

Mark

Did you get this working? Whatever I set the SpeedRatio to the video plays at the default speed (1x).

I dont think that I did actually, sorry about that...but it was 3 years ago, so I cant 100% remember to be honest

It depends on the video format. I believe some formats (like MPEG-1 VCD) can play at up to 4x SpeedRatio. Most newer formats just ignore SpeedRatio. I think for some video chipsets, MPEG4 videos support SpeedRatio up to 2x.

I have never seen a chipset or format that supports negative SpeedRatio...

The way I do it is to jump-seek.
